She attended Virginia Commonwealth University for her PharmD curriculum before moving to Durham, NC to complete her PGY1 Pharmacy Practice and PGY2 Cardiology Residencies at Duke University Hospital. After residency, she continued working as a Clinical Pharmacist in Cardiology at Duke University Hospital before moving to her current position in 2017."

"Dr. Stefanie Ferreri is a professor at the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy. Her main research interests include advancing clinical practice in the community-pharmacy setting. Today she is going to present her research involving fall prevention for older adults in the outpatient setting with a focus on opioid and benzodiazepines. She has an interest in medication management and how community pharmacists can be integral to team-based care by providing these services. 

She also serves as director of the Community Pharmacy Research Fellowship which trains graduates for research careers in academia in addition to serving as co-director of the Independent Ownership Residency which trains future independent pharmacy owners."

Ouita Gatton

Immunization Update - Friday, September 27th - 10:45am - 11:45am

"After graduating from UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy in 1989, Gatton worked in consulting, infusion pharmacy, and several independents and chains. Gatton joined the Kroger Pharmacy team in 1997. She eventually advanced to serve as the Kroger Mid-Atlantic Division clinical coordinator in Roanoke, Virginia. In Virginia, Gatton coordinated all pharmacy programs not directly related to dispensing. She provided leadership for 300 pharmacists in 116 pharmacies across six states: North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, Ohio, Tennessee, and Kentucky. When Gatton returned to Raleigh, she staffed and helped coordinate special projects for Kroger’s North Carolina stores and area communities. She has served on the Community Care Practice Forum and Immunization Task Force for the North Carolina Association of Pharmacists and is a national immunization trainer for the APhA.  Kroger decided to leave North Carolina; Ouita is now an adjunct professor with UNCESOP and has her own consulting firm.  Her passion has always and will always be to move the pharmacy profession forward as much as she can in her lifetime."

Courtney Humphries

Immunization Update - Friday, September 27th - 10:45am - 11:45am

"Courtney received her pharmacy degree from UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy in 2013. After graduation, she completed a community pharmacy residency with UNC at Kroger in Raleigh, NC. Here she was able to update Kroger’s immunization services for the new legislation passed in 2013 including updating documents and providing training. Following completion of her residency, she began working for Harris Teeter in Charlotte, NC. In 2016, she was promoted to the clinical care coordinator where she was able to serve in a role to increase their clinical services in the states they operate. She continues her active involvement with NCAP and serves on the NCIC executive committee."

Tasha Michaels

"Natasha (Tasha) Michaels, PharmD, BCACP is Director of Clinical Services at Sona Pharmacy + Clinic. Michaels received her bachelor of science in chemistry and biology and minor in mathematics from Meredith College in Raleigh, NC (2003). She received her doctor of pharmacy from the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy (2007). Michaels completed her PGY1 community pharmacy residency at Kerr Drug in Raleigh and UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy (2008). Her research on North Carolina’s Medicaid Medication Therapy Management Program was published in the May/June 2010 issue of Journal of the American Pharmacists Association. Michaels’ primary focus has been to provide clinical services to patients in the community setting including incorporation of these services into pharmacy workflow. These services consist of medication therapy management services, immunizations, point-of-care testing, and disease state management, including diabetes education. Michaels is passionate about vaccinations and expanding the role of community pharmacists."

Geoff Mospan

"Dr. Geoffrey Mospan is currently in his sixth year as an Assistant Professor of Pharmacy at Wingate University School of Pharmacy where he leads their Pharmacy Law and Ethics course. He graduated Magna Cum Laude in the Doctor of Pharmacy program at Ohio Northern University and is Board Certified in Pharmacotherapy. He is the author of the North Carolina Pharmacy Law Review guide and has published several articles on pharmacy law topics in peer reviewed journals."

Dave Phillips

"Dr. David Phillips is the Director of Clinical Services at Blue Ridge Pharmacy in Asheville, North Carolina, which provides premier pharmacy services for extended care facilities throughout North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Kentucky. In addition to these responsibilities, Dr. Phillips currently provides consulting services for three continuing care retirement communities.  He is an active member of the North Carolina Association of Pharmacists (NCAP) and is currently serving as President-elect.  Dr. Phillips is a preceptor for APPE students from the University of North Carolina Eshelman School of Pharmacy and Wingate University School of Pharmacy.  He also serves as a preceptor for PGY1 and PGY2 residents."

"After completing her Doctor of Pharmacy at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences College of Pharmacy, Nikki accepted a clinical community residency with UAMS and Harps Pharmacies. As creator of MTM The Future Today, Nikki's residency focused on the development of the training program and tracking the progress in the pharmacies that were utilizing the program. Because of her work with MTM The Future Today, Nikki received the 2016 Arkansas Pharmacists Association Pharmacy Innovation Award. Nikki now continues her work as Clinical Services Coordinator with Harps Pharmacies and Director of Education for MTM The Future Today."
