(See information on forums below)

NCCARES360

Everyone deserves a healthy and happy life, but research shows that up to 70% of a person’s overall health and well-being is driven by social determinants of health including food insecurity, housing instability, unmet transportation needs, and interpersonal violence. Pharmacists feel the impact of unmet health-related social needs all too often in the course of providing medication management to their patients.

The NC Division of Health and Human Services now has a standardized screening and referral platform known as NCCARES360 to give providers a way to connect people who screen positive for an unmet need to available community resources.   Pharmacists interested in utilizing NCCARES360 to send and receive referrals on behalf of their patients will require training to access and use the platform.

NCAP is excited and pleased to announce it will be offering this training to our 2019  attendees from 8 am to 10 am on September 26th.    Two hours of NCCE continuing education will be provided for those completing the workshop.

NACDS Point-of-Care Testing Certificate Program

Point-of-care testing empowers clinicians to use effective, fast technology to aid their decision-making at the "point-of-care" to improve patient health.  Community pharmacy-based point-of-care testing uses Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments - waived tests that offer near-immediate results in non-laboratory settings.  Pharmacies are increasingly offering this public health service to promote prevention, early detection and disease management.

The program provides an opportunity to gain the skills and information necessary to develop a testing program for influenza, Group A Streptococcus, HIV, and Hepatitis C.  The target audience for this certificate program is community pharmacists including students, academia, and pharmacy association staff.  While the program is primarily designed for community pharmacists, non-pharmacists interested in point-of-care testing are also welcome to complete the program.

The 20-hour ACPE accredited certificate program includes comprehensive material regarding key disease states, physical assessment, point-of-care tests, collaborative practice models, and business models through 16 hours of home study and 4 hours of live training.  Credit must be claimed within 60 days of completing the program.
